Things to do in & around Lost Lake

Each of the surrounding communities has a website that offers a wealth of information including local weather conditions, area businesses, events, sport rentals, recreational activities, dining, and more! Minocqua, Eagle River, St. Germain, Sayner, and Boulder Junction.

Tabbert's Favorite Things

There are many things to do and places to see in the North woods and in surrounding communities such as St. Germain, Minocqua, Sayner and Arbor Vitae. Here's list of just a few of our favorite things!

Biking

There has been major improvements and expansions on bike trails in this area. Our favorite area bike trail begins in Boulder Junction and ends in Sayner. This black topped trail takes you in and out of the forest and past Trout Lake and Crystal Lake. This trail will eventually connect with St Germain once completed. Bikes can be rented at many of the gas stations and local stores for a small daily fee.

Trail maps:   Crystal Lake Paved Trail, Plum Lake Bike Trail

One of our favorites that is minutes away from the cabin is at Shannon Lake Trail. The trail surronding the lake itself is not long but challenging winding though the forest. The trails not directly surronding the lake are a bit less challenging but no less scenic.

For off road trails that wind through the forest and are off the beaten path check out this link. These trails are little more rustic. Vilas County Trails.

Fishing

For a fishing guide we have turned to Rob Manthei.  Rob is the best local guide around and is local to St. Germain.  Contact Rob by going to his website or by giving him a call at 715-477-2042

Guides Pro Choice is also a fun place to take the kids because they have a huge aquariam with serveral very large Walleye, Musky and Northern which can be fed for a small fee.

See our About Lost Lake page for additional recommended fishing guides and specific fishing tips for Lost Lake. To check out the local fishing report go to Lake-Link.com as they have most up to date information. Other great fishing lakes are within minutes if you want to trailer your boat and try one of the other fabulous lakes in Vilas or Oneida counties.

Shopping

There are many great shops in the area. All of the local towns such as Sayner, St. Germain, Eagle River, Minocqua, Boulder Junction offer their own mix of unique shops. Two of our favorites to visit include Past Times Gift Shop in Sayner and Sara Muenders Art Gallery in Boulder Junction.

Golf

Whether you are looking for a challenging round of 18 holes or a fun par three for the family to enjoy there are several perfect golf course within minutes that we enjoy. For 18 holes visit the St Germain Golf Club http://www.stgermain-golfclub.com/. For 9 holes with a beautifully lake side setting choose the Plum Lake Golf Club. For the whole family try the relaxing 9 hole, Par 3, course The 19th Hole (mini-golf also available) located across from St. Germain Golf Club.

Canoe

To get away to a quiet lake without any motor boats and really see some wildlife or fish in peace and quiet take the canoe and paddle out on these three lakes we have been to and love: Little Bass Lake and Shannon Lake in St. Germain and Frank Lake just north of Sayner.
